Matthew J. Desch
Mr. Desch, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Iridium Communications, Inc., has more than 30 years of experience in telecommunications management, and more than 20 years in the global wireless industry. Mr. Desch joined Iridium in 2006.
He has been responsible for leading Iridium's innovation and growth, which includes taking the company public on NASDAQ and completion of the financing for the launch of Iridium NEXT, Iridium's next-generation network to begin launching in 2015. Since joining in 2006, Iridium has more than doubled in subscribers and nearly tripled its operational earnings.
Before joining Iridium, Mr. Desch served as the CEO of New Jersey-based Telcordia Technologies, Inc., a supplier of software and services to the telecommunications industry. Mr. Desch was instrumental in moving Telcordia into new wireless and international markets, and spinning off the company to private equity from SAIC, Inc. Prior to Telcordia, Mr. Desch worked for Nortel Networks as president of Nortel's fast growing Wireless Networks division from 1995 to 1999, having led its growth from $2 billion to more than $4.5 billion in annual revenue.
U.S. President Barack Obama appointed Mr. Desch as a member of the National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee. The committee provides recommendations to the President and other government leaders on matters of security that relate to the nation's telecommunications infrastructure.
Mr. Desch also serves on the board of trustees of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA). He previously served on the board of directors of a number of high tech telecom companies, including Starent Networks (now part of Cisco), Flarion Technologies (now part of Qualcomm) and Airspan Networks, as well as industry associations such as the Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association (CTIA), The Wireless Foundation and the Personal Communications Industry Association (PCIA). He served as Chairman of the Wireless Foundation and was a member of the executive board of The Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions (ATIS). Mr. Desch is an active public speaker and has testified on Capitol Hill on matters related to U.S. telecommunications security and emergency communications.
Mr. Desch was named by Washingtonian Magazine as a "Tech Titan" and received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of The Year 2011 Greater Washington Area award. He began his career in software development with Bell Laboratories, which became Lucent Technologies. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from The Ohio State University and an MBA from University of Chicago.

Thomas J. Fitzpatrick
Mr. Fitzpatrick joined Iridium as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in 2010 and is responsible for directing and overseeing all of Iridium's financial activities.
Prior to Iridium, from 2002 to 2009, Mr. Fitzpatrick served as executive vice president and CFO of Centennial Communications Corporation, a publicly traded telecommunications company acquired by AT&T in November 2009. Prior to that, Mr. Fitzpatrick was CFO of private and public companies in the telecommunications and technology industries and a vice president at Bell Atlantic Corporation (now Verizon).
Mr. Fitzpatrick graduated with a Master of Business Administration degree from Villanova University. He earned a bachelor's degree from Pennsylvania State University and is a certified public accountant.

Thomas D. Hickey
Mr. Hickey brings more than 20 years of broad legal and management experience in the telecommunications industry to his position as chief legal officer at Iridium. He is responsible for all legal, regulatory, corporate governance and compliance matters at the company.
Most recently, he served as general counsel and corporate secretary at Primus Telecommunications Group, Incorporated, a global provider of advanced facilities-based communications solutions. Prior to that, he was general counsel of Cyren Call Communications Corporation, a provider of wireless communications services for first responders. Before joining Cyren Call, Mr. Hickey spent 17 years with Nextel Communications, Inc. and Sprint Nextel Corporation, most recently in the role of deputy general counsel. Mr. Hickey began his legal career at Jones Day in the firm's telecommunications practice. His previous experience also includes work in the White House, the Federal Communications Commission and the U.S. Congress.
Mr. Hickey holds a bachelor's degree in public policy from Duke University and a Juris Doctorate degree from Washington University School of Law.

Gregory C. Ewert
Mr. Ewert joined Iridium in 2004 and is responsible for business development for Iridium as well as its relationship with its distribution channels. Mr. Ewert brings more than 20 years of experience at senior-level positions in the global communications industry.
Prior to joining Iridium, from 2002-2004, Mr. Ewert served as executive vice president for marketing, sales, product development, business development and customer service for COMSAT International. Prior to COMSAT, from 1998-2002, he held executive positions within BCE Teleglobe Inc., ranging from senior vice president of global data services to vice president and general manager of carrier services and emerging markets. Before BCE Teleglobe, he worked for Sprint, Sprint International and GlobalOne, a joint venture between Sprint, France Telecom and Deutsche Telekom from 1987-1997, where he held various sales, marketing, and business development positions including president of Sprint International of Canada and vice president, general manager for the Americas.
He holds a bachelor's degree in finance from Canisius College.

John M. Roddy
Mr. Roddy joined Iridium in 2006, bringing with him more than 27 years of telecommunications industry experience. Mr. Roddy is responsible for developing Iridium's corporate operations model and program management process.
Prior to joining Iridium, Mr. Roddy held numerous executive positions at Telcordia Technologies including president, Telcordia Global Services from 2003-2006; senior vice president, global operations; and chief information officer. Mr. Roddy built the global services business, implemented the company's global operations capability, and rebuilt its IT organization as part of a major company transition. Prior to joining Telcordia Technologies, at Nortel Networks, he was vice president and general manager of the carrier professional services business unit serving the CLEC and new market entrants from 1999-2001. Prior to that, he was vice president, technology and director, Ottawa Laboratories for public carrier networks from 1997-1998. He also held the position of vice president, Canadian technical services and global product support from 1993-1996, responsible for the engineering, installation and emergency/field services of the switching and transmission product lines for the carrier customers.
He began his telecommunications career in sales and marketing, holding varied positions including product manager, dynamic routing; regional sales director; and director of services marketing. He holds a Master of Business Administration from McMaster University.

Lt. Gen. John H. Campbell, USAF (Ret.)
General Campbell joined Iridium in 2006 from Applied Research Associates (ARA), where he served as principal, defense and intelligence, since 2004. General Campbell is responsible for all aspects of Iridium's relationship with its U.S. government customers.
General Campbell joined ARA following his retirement from the U.S. Air Force after a 32-year career.
In the U.S. Air Force, General Campbell served in a variety of operational and staff assignments worldwide. From 1998-2000, he was vice director of the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) and the first commander of the Joint Task Force - Computer Network Defense. From 1997-1998, he served on the Joint Staff as deputy director for operations. Between 1971-1997, General Campbell served around the world in a variety of operational assignments as an F-15 and F-16 fighter pilot and commander.
General Campbell is the recipient of numerous military and intelligence community awards, including the Defense Distinguished Service Medal, the Legion of Merit, the Air Medal, the National Imagery and Mapping Agency Award, the National Reconnaissance Distinguished Medal, and the National Security Agency Award.
He holds a bachelor's degree in computer science and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Kentucky.

Don L. Thoma
Mr. Thoma joined Iridium in 2001, and has held various positions within the organization. Appointed to his current role in 2008, Mr. Thoma is responsible for strategic marketing of the company's products and services, corporate communications, and leading corporate initiatives related to the company's next generation satellite constellation, Iridium NEXT. Mr. Thoma also serves as chairman of the Hosted Payload Alliance, an industry trade group that works to advance the use of hosted payloads on commercial satellites.
Prior to joining Iridium, from 2000-2001, he served as vice president of marketing and business development for ObjectVideo, Inc. From 1992-2000, Mr. Thoma held various positions of responsibility for ORBCOMM, ranging from senior director of transportation to founder and general manager of the Vantage Tracking Solutions business unit and vice president of business development. Prior to ORBCOMM, from 1988-1990, he was the director of integration and launch operations for Orbital Sciences Corporation.
Mr. Thoma served as a Captain in the U.S. Air Force Space Division from 1983-1988. He holds a bachelor's degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, a master's degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Southern California and a Master of Business Administration from the Harvard Business School.

S. Scott Smith
Mr. Smith joined Iridium in April 2010 to lead the Iridium NEXT initiative, the company's program to develop, build and launch its next-generation satellite constellation. Mr. Smith brings to Iridium 30 years experience managing large, complex commercial satellite programs.
Prior to Iridium, Mr. Smith served for four years as chief operating officer of DigitalGlobe Inc., a commercial remote sensing satellite company, where he was responsible for the company's satellite and ground operations, engineering organization, and corporate and global expansion initiatives. During his tenure, he oversaw the development and launch of WorldView-1 and WorldView-2, the world's most sophisticated high-resolution imaging satellites.
From 1995-2005, Mr. Smith was a founder and served as executive vice president, sales, engineering and operations of Space Imaging Inc., which owned and operated IKONOS, the world's first one-meter resolution commercial imaging satellite. Mr. Smith's previous experiences include engineering and management roles at Lockheed Missiles and Space Company, including responsibility for spacecraft control products for the Iridium program at Lockheed from 1990-1994.
Mr. Smith holds a Bachelor of Science in aerospace engineering from Syracuse University and Master of Science in aeronautical/astronautical engineering from Stanford University. He is based in Iridium's Tempe, Ariz. office with the company's satellite and ground operations organizations.
